I’ve seen this rumor floating around the Interwebs the past few days. I should stress that this is still just a rumor. It may, as has been claimed, come from “reliable sources” as such are judged to be by the people making the claims, but in truth the only *reliable* sources for this is the Duffer brothers. The claim is that Netflix is cancelling the show after one more season. Let us apply some common sense to this. Considering the quadzillions of dollars Netflix is raking in from the show, do you honestly think they’d want to put an end to it? Netflix would love for it to continue forever. They would never cancel it. Any decision to end the series will NOT come from Netflix. It will come from the Duffer brothers.
But will the Duffer brothers pull the plug after season four? The honest answer: We don’t know. *They* probably don’t know. Maybe.
But why *would* they? Blame biology, when it happens, whether it’s after one more season or two more or whenever. I predict that the most we can hope for is two more. Why is that? Simply put, the kids are growing up. Soon they won’t be kids anymore. And I doubt, and I’m sure the Duffers doubt, that the show would work if it features a group of adults. It just wouldn’t be the same. The magic wouldn’t be there. A spinoff series, maybe. But STRANGER THINGS has to be the story of a group of kids to really work. Has to be.
How soon will the Duffers end the series? It depends on how quickly the kids grow up. One or two more years is all time will allow.
