The Vecna is the new monster threat we’ll be seeing in season four of STRANGER THINGS (debuting May 27th on Netflix). We already know that the Vecna was once human, but a human who has spent a long time in the Upside-Down and has mutated into a new form. Might that human be one Victor Creel, who is to be portrayed by Robert Englund, Freddy Krueger himself? It would be perfect casting, if so. (Granted it wouldn’t be Englund running around in a bodysuit under all that makeup, but some stuntman, but then when we see Freddy in action in any of the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies half the time it’s a stuntman.)
Watching the trailer it sure looks and *sounds* like Englund! In fact the whole thing has such an A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET vibe to it, it’s be almost a cheat if Englund *isn’t* the Vecna! Plus listen to what the Duffer Brothers had to say about it: “We’ve always wanted to do our [own] version of…Freddy Krueger, or a Pinhead, or a Pennywise. Because those were the monsters…[the] supernatural villains that terrified us the most when we growing up.”
Fork it. Ima just go ahead and call it. Robert Englund is the Vecna! You heard it here first!
