The film will debut on Shudder on January 14th, and hopefully on DVD shortly thereafter for the unfortunates like me who can’t livestream it. According to that aforementioned streaming service, HUNTED is “an exhilarating, transcendent, and frequently brutal survival tale that elevates itself with the power of myth and magic, while still holding an exacting mirror to present-day society…” in which the heroine “meets what she thinks is a charming guy in a bar. Yet things go terribly wrong once she realizes she’s come across a psychopath and his puppet accomplice. They engage in a deadly chase until she decides to fight back with the forest acting as her ally.” Interesting. Check out the trailer for the film here.
“The company of wolves is better than that of Man.” Oooh, I like it! It looks like the wilderness here collectively gets to play the part of the hero. That could be really satisfying, seeing two slimy criminal types getting picked apart little by little by the woods, which seems a thing possessed of an intelligence driving it. Sorta like DAY OF THE ANIMALS if the animals were the good guys. (I mean, to me they were, but you know what I’m saying. They’re defending human life, one human life, albeit by taking others.) The synopsis talks about myth and magic, so I wonder just how much the supernatural will play a part in this one.
