Scream Factory is doing us Horror marks a solid, no question about it. Bringing lots of lesser-known cinematic offerings from yesteryear to us on crisp, spiffy new Blu-rays. They don’t discriminate. Even when dealing with a movie that should be forgotten, should be blotted out of the public consciousness, razed from collective human memory. If just ONE person digs it, they figure, it’s a movie worth restoring and preserving. That’s laudable. Unfortunately it also means we’re going to be stuck with a HOWLING III Blu-ray.
I make no bones about my hatred for this movie. It is without a doubt the worst werewolf movie I have ever seen, the worst werewolf movie ever made. And unlike many a “bad” movie, where the appellation of “bad” is a misnomer—if a movie provides enjoyment and entertainment, it cannot truly be defined as such, regardless of the proficiency involved in its creation—HOWLING III is torture to watch. It is so bad that I still get angry, all these years later, thinking about the hour-and-a-half of my life I wasted watching this piece of dreck.
HOWLING III is currently available for preorder. The gods only know why you’d want to. But then I’ve never really understood masochism.
