I hope you all will indulge me, friends. I don’t want to belabor the point, but as I sit typing these words the fundraiser for Wolf and Ali Mertz, owners of WOLF’S MUSEUM OF MYSTERY, is halfway to its goal. I don’t want to see interest wane, now that a few days have passed. The need is still there and still all too real. Wolf and Ali are friends of mine, and the MUSEUM OF MYSTERY was one of my favorite places on the planet. I’m still heartbroken that it’s gone. It still doesn’t seem real. I still can’t quite make myself believe it. I keep hoping that they’ll find at least a few artifacts left intact, but I know this won’t be the case. Everything was destroyed. It’s all gone. Each priceless piece, gone. Anytime there’s a fire, you always hear how “things can be replaced but people can’t.” While I’m thankful that no one was physically injured in this case, the loss was still catastrophic. In this case, no, the material things *cannot* be replaced.
Wolf and Ali have lost their home, their livelihood, their priceless collection, and numerous pets. Anyone who knows them will tell you, they loved their animals like they were their children. I can’t imagine the grief they are suffering right now.
Please consider making a donation, if you haven’t done so already, or even if you have. No amount is too small. We have to help them get back on their feet, and we have to help them start the slow, painful process of rebuilding the Museum. The world still needs places like that.
