Forget Waldo. Where’s Pazuzu?
First Annabelle appeared in blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in last winter’s AQUAMAN. Now we have the statue from THE EXORCIST hidden in a film frame in GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. (Which, if you haven’t seen it yet, you really should before it leaves theaters. This movie is the reason they made movie theaters in the first place!) If anything, the statue is even harder to spot than was Annabelle, but if you’re sharp-eyed enough, it is in there. Director Michael Dougherty has confirmed it. He also says there are numerous other easter eggs hidden in the film. I’m gonna have to buy it when it releases on video and watch it frame by frame to see if I can find them all.
So where in the movie is the Pazuzu statue hidden? It is in the underwater temple where Godzilla is recouping after getting hit by the Oxygen Destroyer. Where Serizawa delivers the atomic bomb to recharge the big G. Right before the explosion hits, you can see the statue. Did you manage to spot it? Don’t feel bad if you didn’t. I didn’t either, not the first time. You can see how many other such hidden references you missed by clicking here.
