Fireside Chats: Looking at Pictures

I was afraid Disney might decide to release THE NEW MUTANTS to livestreaming, eschewing the theatrical experience altogether. I’m glad they decided not to. THE NEW MUTANTS is now scheduled to open in theaters on August 28th. (Please, God, let this pandemic have died down enough by then that it doesn’t get postponed again!) I’m looking forward to the film even more than I was previously, and this isn’t just a case of absence making the heart grow fonder, or denial making you want something more. I’ve learned more about the movie since it was originally set to release. This one really is going to be a Horror flick, and not just because there’s a werewolf in it. Check out some of the photos that have been released. I am so stoked!

Speaking of photos, check out these renderings of the ancient Egyptian gods.

I don’t know who the artist is, but I’d like to. I really dig these. While Anubis is going to be given the top spot on a site dedicate to werewolves, I really love all the gods. That Set is sick! And even peaceful, thoughtful Thoth looks pretty badass. I think my favorite of these, though, might be Sobek. (He’s the crocodile-headed deity, if you’re not down with your Egyptian mythology.)
