Fireside Chats: Better Times with Harryhausen

I just wrote an article wherein I mentioned my visit to Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum in Boulder City, Nevada. (You can take a guided virtual tour of the Museum by clicking here. And help them out during this time of pandemic by contributing to their gofundme account here.) It was during the same road trip vacation when I visited the Monster Museum that I got to see the Ray Harryhausen exhibit then on display in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It makes me both happy and sad to mentally revisit those experiences right now. I suspect you know what I’m talking about. I am sure I will be watching some Ray Harryhausen movies during this period of quarantine, though. And watching them now, I will know that I’ve “met” most of the *real* stars of those films in person!

Some cool person at liveforfilm.com went to the trouble of splicing together clips from all Harryhausen’s pictures to provide a brief showcase for all his wondrous creations, his monsters. Check it out. Pure magic.

I’d be hard-pressed to say which Harryhausen creature is my favorite. I do truly love them all. I couldn’t say which of his movies is my favorite, either. You?
