Finding Werewolves on ‘Destination Truth’

I just learned of this fantastic show called Destination Truth, which is a bit sad since, well, it’s currently in its fourth season. Bad me. Anyway, the show airs on SyFy and explores a wide variety of myths and legends around the world – from aliens to Bigfoot. But we wouldn’t be here if they didn’t tackle one creature in particular – werewolves!

From the official website:

“Led by intrepid world-adventurer Josh Gates, each episode of Destination Truth takes viewers on a trek across the globe as Josh investigates stories of the unexplained. Accompanied by his small crew, Josh dives into the local cultures and searches for clues to the existence of strange creatures and paranormal phenomena.

In the current season, Josh will travel to some of the most extreme locations on Earth, including the isolated Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan and the heart of the world’s worst nuclear accident at Chernobyl. Viewers will also ride along on unprecedented investigations, including the world’s first overnight exploration of King Tut’s cursed tomb and pitch-black dives in ancient Caribbean caves.”

In the third season of the show Josh Gates traveled to Romania to investigate the many werewolf legends heard there.

“Romania, home to rolling green hills, unparalleled architecture and the notorious werewolf. The legend of the half man, half beast monster has existed for centuries and while most scoff at the notion that the mythic figure is a reality, others swear it’s real. Recently, villagers in the small Romanian town of Brad, unearthed a human corpse, removed its heart and drank the blood as part of an archaic ritual to ward off werewolves. Tasty.”

I still can’t believe I never knew about Destination Truth! This show sounds so amazing!  Have any of you seen it? If so, what did you think? Let us know in a comment below.

  1. I’ve seen episodes from time to time, I missed the werewolf one clearly, have to be looking for it now.

  2. They’ve also done an episode about an African vampire called the Night Stalker. Their no sentient race of blood-suckers, but their pretty cool.

  4. I know the show as well. The quality differs from episode to episode. Some are really acceptable but other times the “I want to believe”-topic actually ruins it a bit. All in all not bad but also not a hit in my eyes.

  5. I’m actually going to Romania next year I wanted to know if there were any werewolves there. So far no one answered back, maybe because this is up or something.

  6. Sorry, this guy mistakes the word “strigoi” which is a kind of vampire, for werewolves. In Romania, I can tell for sure because I happen to live here, no such news ever existed about people abandoning their villages after seeing werewolves! This show is just for entertainment.
