Fiend-ish Gold

I love it when my fanboy worlds come crashing together. Longtime readers of this site will already know this, but bear with me for the sake of any newcomers as I go a bit autobiographical. Growing up, I had three great loves, great passions. Professional wrestling, Horror movies, and comic books. Back then the three didn’t converge all that often, and when they did, like when Rowdy Roddy Piper took the starring role in John Carpenter’s THEY LIVE, it was a serious cause for celebration. Today we’ve had wrestlers starring in Horror movies, like Kane and The Rock, and we’ve had Horror sometimes bleeding into the wrestling world. Here is the latest example: a mask and title belt designed for pro wrestler The Fiend by Tom Savini!

The Fiend is the alter-ego of hulking Bray Wyatt (whose real name is Windham Rotunda, son of Mike Rotunda, nephew of Barry Windham, and grandson of Blackjack Mulligan, all guys I used to watch perform when I was a kid) and wrestles under all red lighting in whatever arena his match is taking place. I don’t follow wrestling religiously like I did back in the day, but I may have to start back with the “appointment” viewing now to catch The Fiend when he makes an appearance.
