I didn’t expect, at all, to find anything to comment on, for this or any of our sister sites, to commemorate the current holiday season. How could I connect anything related to Easter with werewolves, or with vampires, comic books, Horror or zombies? The latter would be a possibility, except I’ve reported in the past on the possible reference to “zombies” in the Bible, appearing on the original Good Friday. (Matthew 27:52-53, for those who missed it the first time around.) Then there is the excellent and chilling short story “Lazarus” by Russian author Leonid Andreyev, depicting the resurrected man as vampire-like. (Maybe I’ll cover that one next week, over at vampires.com.) But werewolves? There couldn’t possibly be any link between lycanthropy and Easter celebrations. Then I chanced upon this linked-to series of images. As humans being killed and/or eaten by animals, especially anthropomorphic animals, falls squarely under the purview of this site, it qualifies!
I wish the source for each image was identified. These COULD be modern creations designed to LOOK medieval. (Hell, let’s just call it; they ARE.) Either way, they’re creepy cool and, in the best NIGHT OF THE LEPUS manner, unintentionally hysterical. Killer bunnies! Oh, the horror!
