In MTV’s newest series Teen Wolf (which has no ties to the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie) teenage Scott (Tyler Posey) is bitten by a wolf and what happens next is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, his new heightened hearing and eyesight kick ass, and his newfound agility transforms him from weak nerd into a lacrosse star. With his updated school status he finally has a chance with the new girl in town, Allison (Crystal Reed). On the other hand, well, he’s got all of the werewolf downfalls – full moon drama, uncontrollable hostility, fangs, yellow eyes and so on.
And that about sums up the show, which premieres June 5 after the MTV Movie Awards. MTV recently released a preview of Teen Wolf on their website which is of the first eight -minutes of the first episode, and well, people do not love what they see. Every site I have come across doesn’t have a single nice thing to say about the preview of Teen Wolf. Most are saying that it’s unoriginal, that it’s not bringing anything new to the table, that it’s just another clichéd and stereotypical teen drama with some added supernatural elements. Yeah, the reviews are making me not want to watch this show, but they won’t stop me from checking out the preview myself.
If you check out preview yourself you’ll see that the show’s tone and look are rather dark, which is most likely an attempt to replicate the current wave of young adult hit films which all seem to have the same vibe. Due to the feel of this little clip, Teen Wolf may nab a lot of attention from younger viewers, particularly the Twi-hards and fans of the Vampire Diaries. The clip has some potential, it was dark and eerie, which is a plus, and it was somewhat humorous, which is also a good way to win viewers. However, it was a bit cheesy, but it is MTV so that’s to be expected. Overall, I didn’t hate the preview, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. The show definitely has some potential, but I’ll need more than eight-minutes to make a valid judgment on it.

The internet critics are totally trashing this preview video, but I don’t give a flying-fuck what they think. I do however care about your opinions, so what do you guys think about the eight-minute opening?
