Clearing up the (confusion concerning) HOUSE(S)

This one bugged me, so I had to get to the bottom of it. I will share my findings with you all, on the off-chance that somebody out there, somewhere, has been likewise flummoxed over this one. Ready?

There’s this guy, Ted Dekker. He’s a Christian Fiction author. He co-authored a book called HOUSE along with fellow Christian writer Frank Peretti; the latter first came to my attention when he wrote a book called MONSTER dealing with a killer Bigfoot, which was actually a not-so-subtle attempt to undermine the scientific maxim of evolutionary biology. I don’t care much for propaganda disguised as fiction, so I lost interest at that point. Anyway. HOUSE became a movie, also called HOUSE, in 2006. (No, I haven’t seen it.)

That’s TED Dekker. Got it? Okay. Well, there’s a writer-slash-director named FRED Dekker. The latter Dekker has directed films like NIGHT OF THE CREEPS and THE MONSTER SQUAD. He also wrote the story for a 1986 film called…HOUSE. See why this got confusing to me? Ted Dekker. Fred Dekker. HOUSE and HOUSE.

I have seen the 1986 movie HOUSE. It’s a cheesy glob of silly fun, sans propaganda. If killer Bigfoots are more your speed, may I suggest the films EXISTS, BLUFF CREEK, or ABOMINABLE? If you’re looking for “entertainment” that will shore up your creationist theology–I actually don’t know of any books or films to recommend to you. The latter ain’t my bag, I’m afraid.
