We all know that Ed Gein was from Wisconsin. He’s as immediately identifiable with the Badger State as are the Great Lakes, the Wisconsin Dells, beer and cheese. I’m sure there are those in the Wisconsin department of tourism who would prefer it if this was not so, but like it or not, ol’ Ed was, and remains, a celebrity.
Ed Gein, in case you didn’t know, was a cannibal. He also served as the inspiration for Norman Bates in PSYCHO, Buffalo Bill in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and Leatherface in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.
Despite the fact that this linked article is on Wisconsin Public Radio, though, and deals with “Cannibal Sandwiches,” those sandwiches are *not* named in honor of Ed Gein. Neither are they sandwiches containing human flesh. They just contain raw beef.
Or at least it’s *supposed* to be beef…
