BOOK GIVEAWAY and Exclusive Interview with Monique Snyman

I’ve got a double dose of awesome for you today – a book giveaway and an interview! Woo! I had that pleasure of interviewing Monique Snyman on her new book Charming Incantations: Enticed, the same book we’re giving away to one lucky reader (giveaway details below). Have a look…

Can you tell us a little about your book Charming Incantations: Enticed?
“Charming Incantations: Enticed” is a story of a young, human girl, whose parents died in in a terrible accident.  However, now she has to take over the family business… little does Lisa know that the family business basically includes saving the world from supernatural foes whilst fighting alongside supernatural creatures.  Werewolves, vampires, witches, banshees, shape-shifters and goblins all have their place in the world, which Lisa didn’t know about.  She has to deal with all of this and falling in love with Romulus, the werewolf representative and finding out that her world is about to come to a complete standstill sooner rather than later…

How does Charming Incantations: Enticed differ from other novels about werewolves?
“Charming Incantations: Enticed” is a not only a novel, it’s a whole different world within our own world, which is cleverly disguised. Werewolf novels in general goes either one way (horror) or the other (romance), and although my book has both elements, the werewolf mythology that I bring in is somewhat more accurate, although purposely reworked to give a person’s mind a bit of a work-out.  It’s not full-blown romance, that’s more of a backstory, but my werewolf novel will definitely give the ladies something to drool about. *winks*

What inspired you to write about werewolves?
I lived near a wooded part of town.  It wasn’t very big, but it was green and at night I could have sworn I saw something in it from my apartment.  My imagination went crazy and I started to have vivid dreams of werewolves lurking around there at night.  Push came to shove and voila, you have Charming Incantations, a whole world of mythology to delve into.

What is one thing you would like people to take away from their experience of reading Charming Incantations: Enticed?
Well, it’s dependent of the reader of course. Although this is a young adult novel, I know a lot of adults enjoy it as well. For kids I would mostly want them to feel like it’s okay to dream and believe in themselves.  For adults, it’s pretty much the same thing.  The point of “Charming Incantations: Enticed” is to give a little bit of magic to those who feel like it’s not possible to believe in the unbelievable.  Heck, I still believe fairies exist and nobody can make me feel differently about it… there’s nothing wrong with believing in something radical.

Who’s your favorite fictitious werewolf (other than your own)?
Oh, how horrid of you! You want me to choose a sexy werewolf other than my own? *giggles* Well that’s easy, I’m very much all googly eyed for Tom McNair from Being Human (UK). Michael Socha is really working the charm for me lately. *drools*

What is your favorite werewolf book, movie and/or show?
That’s a tough one, but I guess the best werewolf show in my opinion is “Being Human” (UK), when I saw George transform the first time, I was enthralled with the magnificent effects! The US remake isn’t as good though. As for my favourite werewolf movie, I’m going to say “An American Werewolf in London”, you just don’t get werewolves like those anymore.

Tell our readers why they should check out your book – in 3 words: (bwahaha)
Magic awaits you…

And finally, what other projects are you currently working on? Any goodies we should watch out for?
Right now I’m busy working on the second novel in the series, called “Charming Incantations: Sanguine”, which is obviously going to be about vampires.  However, I am also working on my horror novel called “Secrets of Atlantis” and in between I write short stories for anthologies.  You can look into some of my other stories like “Code Z: An Undead Hospital Anthology” and “Zombies: The Other Fright Meat”, which have already been released.  There are also two other upcoming anthologies, but everything is available directly on my website or blog, which you can access from www.charmingincantations.com
