BOB is still there!

If you aren’t a fan of TWIN PEAKS I won’t try to convince you to start watching the show. Honestly you’d have to go back and watch the entire first two seasons from 25 years ago, and the lackluster movie TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME, to be able to make heads or tails out of the new season currently running on Showtime, and even then you might not like it. TWIN PEAKS is the ultimate acquired taste, the ultimate specialty recipe. I’m just gonna preach to the choir, then, and celebrate with all my fellow Peakers (Do fans of the show have an official title yet, the way STAR TREK has its “Trekkies”? If not, I submit “Peakers” for approval.) the confirmation we now have that Demon BOB is still with us.

I was concerned, since actor Frank Silva tragically passed away in 1995, that BOB wouldn’t be a part of the new season. But how could he NOT be? I asked myself. That would mean they’d have to recast the role. Could any new actor do justice to the role Silva created? I had my doubts. This past Sunday night, we got our first glimpse of BOB that wasn’t a flashback; as Evil Doppelganger Cooper was staring into a mirror in his jail cell, his face slowly and subtly morphed into BOB. It made me laugh, made me cheer, and even made me a tad melancholy. “You’re still with me,” E.D. Cooper said to BOB, who stared back at him, and at us, from the mirror. “That’s good.” Yes, E.D.C. Yes, it is.
