Blood on the Moon by Jennifer Knight

New werewolf books are a rare treat lately since so many paranormal authors have been focused on writing about vampires and angels instead, but after scanning Amazon for a long while I discovered one werewolf book that was just released. Hurray for wolf-tacular newbies! The book is Blood on the Moon by Jennifer Knight, and unfortunately, there are more than werewolves in it… there are vampires too. Ah well, as least there is some werewolf action (even if it’s cliché werewolf vs. vampire action).

Here’s the book description:

“As Faith Reynolds enters her freshman year of college, she is a complete and utter nervous wreck.  With her best friend Derek suddenly pulling out the romance card and her dark, mysterious classmate staring her down at every turn, Faith somehow feels stuck in the middle without dating either one.  And fortune may or may not be with her when a devilshly sexy stranger offers her a welcome escape.

Boys, romance, classes, and annoying roommates are all within the realm of the expected for a college frosh.  Trying to solve the mysterious murders of young college coeds near campus is not.  Darkness seems to be creeping into every corner of Faith’s life, no matter the hour.  And when she seeks the truth, danger seems to be the only thing that finds her.

Faith is well aware of the strange currents in the air, particularly when she sets off static sparks with everything she touches.  Before long, she finds herself entrenched in the deep-seeded battle between werewolves and vampires.  The war has reached the tipping point, and Faith has the power to determine where the scales fall.  But the most important question may be with whom does her loyalty lie?

Deliciously suspenseful and immediately addictive, Blood on the Moon features a headstrong heroine and all of the thrills, chills, and otherworldly boys with deadly charm that a human could ask for.”

This isn’t really the type of book I go for, but I did consider giving it a shot – until I read a few reviews claiming that the book is a lot like Twilight and a few other reviews that noted its lack of proper editing. However, Blood on the Moon has received good reviews overall, and some reviewers even said that they loved the werewolves in this book. Either way I think I’ll pass, what about you?

  1. Definitely passing, I need more substance, I cannot bare these teenage/ school stories; I want something gritty and more realistic when it comes to my werewolves.

  2. If your looking for a good werewolf book, might I suggest Wolfsangel by M. D. Lachlan. I am about halfway through it and I gotta say I love it.

  3. I skimmed some of this book earlier. It’s not bad, but it is definitely like Twilight, but a darker and more violent version, and there’s no triangle, since the vampire, who we think is going to be the romantic lead, is quickly revealed to be the main villain of the story, and a total serial killer. The werewolves are interesting, and can take multiple forms depending on the lunar cycle. Not bad, but not that great either.
