Are Dogmen Werewolves?

I say yes. Just two different terms for the same thing. Other folks have different ideas. That’s okay. Until such time as someone manages to score an interview with one of these creatures and it gives us its views on the matter, it will remain a matter of personal opinion.

What prompted this post was this one that I chanced upon this past week, and something the author said. Allow me to quote: “Now, Dogman should not be confused with other similar legends. For example, the Werewolf, the Skinwalker, the Loup Garou or Rougarou, and many others. Many different cultures have their own legends of upright walking canids, some evil, and some good. I don’t group Dogman in with these other legends. I’ll save those topics for another time. For now, we’re focusing on the Dogman. Mainly because the other creatures are all suspected shapeshifters. The Dogman does not change shape.” I would have to ask, in regards to that last statement, how does the author know that? The writer does not “group Dogman in with these other legends”. That’s fine. I do. Besides, Loup Garou is just the French term for a werewolf, and Rougarou is a derivation thereof. They mean the same thing.

Something else the writer says: “I do know that in the cases of Bray Road and LBL, there are numerous sightings and encounters.” I wish he had listed them. While I’m very familiar with all the sightings of the Beast of Bray Road, I have been unable to critically verify *any* of the sightings of the Beast of the Land Between the Lakes. There’s a ton of secondhand information, but I can’t find anyone willing to go on the record as an eyewitness.
