Another American Werewolf in London

wolfinlondonHey all you werewolf movie lovers, it looks like the classic werewolf flick, An American Werewolf In London, is getting remade. You read that correctly, the cult hit that was written and direction by the popular John Landis and released in 1981 is getting remade. We hear that John Landis has sold the remake rights for An American Werewolf In London to Dimension Films and they will be putting a remake on their ‘To Do’ list. Many of the original fans are already griping about this, expecting nothing more than a disaster. Then you have those that have never seen the original that are just geeked about a new werewolf movie. What about you guys? Yay! or Nay!

If you haven’t seen the original, An American Werewolf in London and have no clue what I am going on about, then I’ll fill you in.  The macabre, yet sinisterly humorous film is about two American friends visiting England who get attacked by a werewolf. One of them dies (kind of), the other wakes up in a hospital to find a nasty bite wound. I am pretty sure you can guess what the bite means. He becomes a werewolf, of course, but not until after he is first plagued with nightmares of himself running on all fours, barking and blood letting. He is haunted with the idea of suicide in order to save victims from the past and future victims. To find out what happens next you’ll just have to pick up movie and see for yourself.

The original 1981 flick was recently released on blu-ray disk, so for those hardcore fans, go pick up An American Werewolf in London (Full Moon Edition) and rewatch all the horrifying and hilarious moments all over again, and reminisce about that Academy Award-winning make-up by Rick Baker that was once believed to be the most amazing effects ever (ah, the 80’s).

  1. Like most fans of the movie, I am not too happy about a remake. Remakes almost always
suck . I have been looking for An American Werewolf in London in the movie stores on and off for months for friends and family. I finally ordered it online. Most never saw it and some heard of it but couldn’t find it. I have been looking forward to a good werewolf movie, but i’m scared they may ruin my favorite one by remaking it.

  2. just because they’re remakeing the movie doesn’t neccesarily mean it’s gonna be bad, it might be better. who knows. i’ve seen the original movie with friends once and i wasn’t even bothered by it. i actually found it slightly boreing. maybe the new one will be better. who knows!

  3. I have no problem with it…AS LONG AS THEY DO IT RIGHT, WHICH THEY SERIOUSLY NEED TO DO!
AND I don’t want them to make it a person that become an ordinary wolf, like in true blood – NO!! I want the character to become a huge, snarling, man-eating, rampaging beast that can walk on two legs and that is in between forms – the way it should be. And I don’t want any of so much of that cgi shit. Like any other good horror movie, I want it to be scary – certain scene where you get scare in certain scenes you don’t expect to get scared. I want the beast to be in make-up/ body suit like in Underworld films, the howling, Steven King’s Silver bullet type.
And other then the transformation, scary scenes, gory parts, the story needs to have meaning and NOT BORING. I want the storyline to have good chemistry between that characters and for the audience as well have the audience to be able to elate to the character(s) and perhaps sqeeze some humor and wittiness and again, THEY CANNOT HAVE THE NON-WEREWOLF SCENES BORING. I WANT THIS MOVIE TO BE GREAT, FOR GOODNESS’ SAKE! GREAT!!!!!
