A TRIP TO WEREWOLF COUNTRY: Driving Bray Road, Part Two

As I stated in the previous article in this series, Bray Road isn’t very long. I thus drove up and down in several times. I honestly lost count, just how many. Probably ten, maybe twelve. Several in the day and then I came back at night, after leaving the Walworth County Fair a few miles away in the town of Elkhorn, and drove it again.

Really slowly, each time. When a local would come up behind me he or she would quickly zip around me and keep going. The locals, it would seem, don’t have much time for out-of-towners paying them a visit to look for werewolves. Not on the roads, anyway. I will say that all the people I met in Wisconsin were super nice. The South has a reputation for friendliness, but based on my experiences Wisconsin can match it. The locals just don’t want to drive behind you at ten miles an hour while you’re poring over every inch of surrounding woods and fields for werewolves, is all.

No, I didn’t see the Beast. I honestly didn’t expect to. If the Beast is, as I suspect, a supernatural entity, one perhaps aware of the thoughts of people who pass through its domain, might my thoughts somehow lure it into making an appearance, I wondered? Might they “summon” it? Given that the Beast has only made a handful of appearances throughout the years and considering how many people travel Bray Road every day (but not that many at night, to go by my experience), I knew the odds were not in my favor. I had so much fun looking, though.

Enjoy these photographs taken on Bray Road. If you wanted to, you could always photoshop one of the werewolves from THE HOWLING into the picture for effect.
