A STRANGER THINGS Christmas
Back in 1978, there was no Internet. There were no VCRs or VHS tapes, much less DVDs or live-streaming. People couldn’t watch STAR WARS just anytime they wanted to. To keep the franchise fresh in people’s minds in-between movies, George Lucas agreed to let CBS create THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL. The result was the most bizarre, disjointed, crazy, bombastic, and ridiculous mess anyone has ever seen. (Seriously, if you’ve never seen it, you are culturally deprived. Hit up the YouTube or buy yourself a bootleg DVD on eBay post haste!)
This video is essentially the same thing. The folks behind STRANGER THINGS wanting to use the Christmas season to publicize, throwing out some content to remind the fans that they are still around and will be back with their third season sometime in the new year. It’s shorter than THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL, though. Not nearly as bizarre. (That’s a serious understatement.) Is it as much fun? Probably not. But it’s cute. Enjoy.
