A QUIET PLACE – You Can’t Keep A Good Monster Down
John Krasinski’s Oscar-worthy magnum opus A QUIET PLACE slipped to the number two spot at the box office in its second weekend, losing its position to RAMPAGE. (I WILL be reviewing RAMPAGE for you on this site, although it will likely be a little late for some. I simply haven’t had the time to get to the theater to see it. Those of you who were excited about it have likely ALREADY seen it by now, and those who have no interest will likely continue to maintain no interest despite being told that the film is good. My review, then, when it comes (and it may be awhile, as this coming weekend sees the opening of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, and I’m gonna see that one first), will be for the benefit of those who are still on the fence about it.
Where was I? Oh, yes. A QUIET PLACE. It dropped to second place in its second weekend, up against RAMPAGE, but then it jumped back up into first place in its third weekend, bumping RAMPAGE down to number two. If you love monster flicks, whether silly or serious, this is a win-win situation. With AVENGERS coming out, as mentioned, it isn’t likely that A QUIET PLACE will get another weekend in the top spot, but that’s more than okay. The movie has been a huge hit, and will help to convince studios to fund more projects like it.
