Michael Sarnoski, who brought us the movie PIG starring Nicolas Cage, has signed on to helm that A QUIET PLACE spinoff film we’ve been hearing about. It will take place in the same continuity as the two previous films and is to be based on a story idea by John Krasinski, but none of the familiar characters from the two previous films are expected to appear. There’s no reason why any of them should. There’s a whole world out there, after all, and everyone living in that world has a story relative to his/her involvement with the sightless alien monsters. Any A QUIET PLACE movie need not focus on just one family.
Per Deadline: “Not much more is known about this project other than it not being a threequel but rather a spinoff [EDIT: I already said that] based on an idea from John Krasinski [EDIT: I already said that, too]. The hope is this film would help set up a potential Quiet Place universe that the studio can build on for years to come.” [EDIT: Geeze, Deadline, just repeat everything I’ve already said, whydoncha?]
Mr. Krasinski will serve as producer for this next film. He is also expected to eventually return to the main storyline he began and give us a third film featuring the Abbott family at some point.
