I’d like to find the artist responsible for the image on the right (above) so I can give him/her proper credit. Whoever created the piece gets props from yours truly for being literate. The work is obviously inspired by the image on the upper left, which is a still from the short film A TRIP TO THE MOON, a French silent picture from 1902—making it one of the first movies ever made—and created by Georges Melies, the stage magician who deserves recognition, even moreso than Thomas Edison, as the first real moviemaker. Melies was also the first great pioneer of special effects, and is credited with creating the world’s first Horror movie (THE HAUNTED CASTLE, 1896). Seriously, if you’ve never watched any of Melies’ film work, you should check it out. It’s astounding what he was able to achieve well over a hundred years ago. The guy truly was a trailblazer, and if you’ve ever enjoyed a movie, any movie, you owe a debt of gratitude to Melies.
As for the picture of the werewolf taking a bullet to the eye, anybody have any idea where it originated? I’m gonna assume it’s a werewolf. It looks like a werewolf, and that looks like a silver bullet poking it in the eye. (That can’t be comfortable.)
