5 Ferocious and Howl-Worthy Werewolf Anthologies

One of the most frustrating things about buying a gift for a bookworm is not knowing what they have or haven’t read, so when I’m at a loss for a good book to get them, I go with anthologies. A collection of stories all based on one particular topic is perfect, especially when you have a wide assortment of authors. So, if you’re looking for a werewolf anthology for a gift (or for yourself) here are 5 to check out.

Curse of the Full Moon: A Werewolf Anthology
The change comes on with startling speed. Moonlight transforms the kindly stranger into something else–something wild, vicious and beyond the reach of reason. The curse has taken hold. From dark urban alleys and fog-shrouded heaths to unsettling futurescapes and fantastic realms, the battle against the beast within creates heroes or horrors. Only the light of the full moon reveals which it is that you face: your savior or your doom. Curse of the Full Moon presents a remarkable collection of works that examine the legend of the werewolf from a wide variety of insightful and inventive perspectives. With stories from world-renowned voices in horror and fantasy such as: Tanith Lee, Peter S. Beagle, Neil Gaiman, Ramsey Campbell and many more.

The Mammoth Book of Wolf Men
There is a Mammoth Book for virtually every topic, including werewolves. This collection contains 23 dark stories of half-man, half-wolf beasties. Authors found in this kickass book include Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Manly Wade Wellman and many more.

The Best Werewolf Short Stories 1800-1849: A Classic Werewolf Anthology
I read this book a while back and loved it (read my review here). This collection, as the title says, contains classic werewolf stories from the 1800s. It’s an excellent book for those that prefer old school werewolf tales.

I Believe In Werewolves: An Anthology of Wolfen Terror
I have been hearing about this collection for quite a while now due to the fact that I work with a lot of self-published authors and this entire collection is written by independent writers. It sounds good, it may be just what you need to find a new author to support.

Werewolves and Shape Shifters: Encounters with the Beasts Within
This collection of new and classic werewolf stories includes some huge names, including George R.R. Martin, Charlaine Harris, Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman, H.P. Lovecraft, Joe R. Lansdale and many more. This is definitely one of the most impressive werewolf anthologies.

Have you read any of the anthologies above? If so, what did you think?
