Werewolves on the Titanic?!

While scanning the interwebs for interesting reads I stumbled upon a rather unique book and simply had to get your opinions on it. The book is Fateful by bestselling author Claudia Gray. Gray is best known for her vampire series Evernight, but it turns out that she’s not just a vampire author, she also writes about werewolves as well. What caught my attention when it came to Fateful wasn’t that it’s yet another young adult werewolf novel, but that it’s set on the Titanic of all places. That’s definitely new.

Here’s more info on Fateful:

“Eighteen-year-old maid Tess Davies is determined to escape the wealthy, troubled family she serves. It’s 1912, and Tess has been trapped in the employ of the Lisles for years, amid painful memories and twisted secrets. But now the Lisle family is headed to America, with Tess in tow. Once the ship they’re sailing on—the RMS Titanic—reaches its destination, Tess plans to strike out and create a new life for herself.

Her single-minded focus shatters when she meets Alec, a handsome first-class passenger who captivates her instantly. But Alec has secrets of his own. He’s in a hurry to leave Europe, and whispers aboard the ship say it’s because of the tragic end of his last affair with the French actress who died so gruesomely and so mysteriously. . . .

Soon Tess will learn just how dark Alec’s past truly is. The danger they face is no ordinary enemy: werewolves exist and are stalking him—and now her, too. Her growing love for Alec will put Tess in mortal peril, and fate will do the same before their journey on the Titanic is over.

In Fateful, New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray delivers paranormal adventure, dark suspense, and alluring romance set against the opulent backdrop of the Titanic’s first—and last—voyage.”

While I am a bit tired of young adult romances, I have to admit that the fact that it’s set on the Titanic has me pretty curious. I may have to give this one a read just so I can see how it all plays out. Plus, the vast majority of the reviews on this book are excellent, so that’s a bonus.

What do you guys think of werewolves being on the Titanic? It’s a ridiculous thought, but one that just might work. I’ll have to read Fateful and see if it’s as good as everyone says.

  1. Now its getting ridiculus, this whole rewriting history to add monsters in it is insane and this is too tragic to be even considered. What next the Holocaust?

    1. You need to chill. Yes, it was a great tragedy. But it happened nearly 100 years ago. There’s nothing we can do to change it. People often take trips to the Titanic in submarines and essentially study, steal, disturb, and damage the grave site. There was an episode of a TV series that allowed the Titanic to survive before Fate started hunting down and killing all the descendants of the passengers on board. And you think writing a fictional account of the Titanic to add werewolves is too much?
