Do Werewolves exist in America? Is the Wolfman just a myth?
They may not exist. But people keep seeing ‘em anyway.
We want it to be true. We WANT to believe. Even the hardline skeptic WANTS to believe; he simply can’t make himself believe in anything without physical, quantifiable evidence; there’s nothing wrong with that, and we shouldn’t vilify him for it. I tend a little towards the skeptical side myself. But at the same time I desperately long to believe. Not just in monsters. In anything, for lack of a more sufficient word, magical. No less a personage than Albert Einstein explained that nothing is more wonderful for a modern human being than to encounter something mysterious. What a dry, dusty, sad world we would live in if everything could be measured, recorded, catalogued and explained away. Fortunately, we DON’T have to live in that world, do we?
Modern science tells us that werewolves CAN’T exist. But the werewolves, it seems, haven’t been studying up on their Science. They don’t seem to know they can’t be real. As a result, they keep putting in appearances. Granted, those appearances are few and far between, and none of them classify as evidence. But do you really think the werewolves, whatever they truly are, care whether we believe in them or not?
