Teeny Tiny Crime Scenes

I’ve got an idea for you, Lego. It’s a guaranteed moneymaker. There are a lot of geeks like me out there, Horror and True Crime marks who would gladly shell out some dough for a build-your-own-famous-crime-scene collection. You could give us the Lizzie Borden set, complete with all the parts to construct the rambling Borden house in Fall River, and a cute little Lego figure of Lizzie, holding a tiny Lego hatchet, with a bloody Lego Andrew Borden ready to be placed atop a bloody Lego loveseat, as soon as you build it. Then there could be a Jack the Ripper set, complete with gaslight, grimy street and dismembered victim, a little Lego Jack in a cloak and top hat. What else? Oh, the Villisca Murder House! H.H. Holmes’ Murder Castle! The possibilities are endless.

Since Lego has yet to move on this project, 34-year-old Abigail Goldman has to create her works of art, cleverly dubbed “Dieoramas,” out of model railroad pieces, old crime scene photographs, loads of imagination, and the aid of tweezers and a magnifying glass. I think she’s really on to something here. She should start selling kits that let people build their own Dieoramas. I know I’d buy one or a dozen. Ms. Gardner started out making these things as a lark, but was surprised to find out just how much of a demand there is for such things. Geeze, Abigail, I could’a told you that.
