Daniel “Oz” Osbourne from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oz first joined the cast of Buffy during season 2 when he became Willow’s first… and only boyfriend. When he witnessed Buffy slaying a vampire during her birthday party he seemed rather unfazed by the revelation that vampires existed and reacted in true Oz fashion by declaring “This explains a lot.” He became a full fledged Scooby by season 3 when he discovered he had been turned into a werewolf after being bitten on the finger by his little cousin Jordy. Oz remained part of the Scoobies until season 4 when after killing another werewolf to protect Willow he felt he would only continue to endanger her if he stayed. He left in hopes of finding a way to either cure or control his werewolf nature. He returned again eight months later having found a Tibetan monk who had taught him to control his werewolf transformations so that the full moon no longer had any effect on him. Unfortunately even though Oz no longer transformed during the full moon he now transformed whenever he felt pain or anger. He was captured by The Initiative to be studied but was later freed by Buffy’s then boyfriend Riley Finn. Believing that everything was going to be the way it was before he left, Oz was infuriated when he learned that Willow had started dating again. Willow had begun seeing Tara, a fellow Sunnydale U student after realizing that she was a lesbian. Knowing that the only thing that made him feel the pain that caused him to transform into a werewolf was being near Willow without being able to be with her, Oz left Sunnydale, and Willow, for good. Oz is played by Seth Green.

Lucian from the Underworld franchise. Lucian was born a second generation werewolf meaning that he was born human and could transform between lycan and human forms at will. Before Lucian all lycans were born and lived in wolf form, only transforming into human form upon death. The vampire lord Viktor had intended to slay the child but later came to believe that having such a creature under his control could be potentially useful. Lucian grew to become the leader of the lycans and ruled them under Viktor’s command. Lucian had fallen in love with Viktor’s daughter Sonja and the two of them had a romance that later resulted in Sonja becoming pregnant. When Viktor learned of the affair and subsequent pregnancy he imprisoned the two and had his daughter burned alive by the sun while forcing Lucian to watch. Lucian managed to escape that night and led a revolt against the vampires. He managed to unite the different generations of lycans against their common enemy and almost succeeded in killing Viktor. For six hundred years it was believed that Lucian was dead when in fact he had gone into hiding biding his time, waiting for his ultimate revenge. In the present time Lucian resurfaced with a plan to create a lycan/vampire hybrid, uniting the two clans the way his unborn child would have if Sonja had not been murdered. Lucian is played by Alexander Carroll as a teen and later by Michael Sheen.

George Sands from Being Human. George is you’re typical, unassuming, kindhearted nice guy… except for the fact that he also happens to be a werewolf. George lives in a flat with his friends Mitchell, who is a vampire and Annie, who is a ghost. George and Mitchell work as porters at a local hospital where George meets and eventually starts dating his girlfriend Nina, the head nurse. George was attacked by a werewolf during a full moon while on vacation in the Scottish highlands. The tourist he was walking with had been killed immediately but George managed to survive with only a scratch after the werewolf had been chased off. Deciding that he did not want to put those he loved in danger, George left his parents and fiancee behind to start a new life in Bristol. George was forced to take a series of menial jobs and move from place to place in order to keep his secret before meeting Mitchell who helps him to deal with his lycanthropy. When George and Mitchell move into a house haunted by Annie the two of them help her to remember and cope with the fact that she had been murdered by her fiancee. George also comes to Mitchell’s aid by locking himself inside a basement with Mitchell’s rival Herrick during a full moon and decapitating him after transforming. Herrick had planned to fight Mitchell but George knew that Mitchell would be at a disadvantage since he was much weaker than Herrick due to the fact that he was refusing to drink human blood. George had also been befriended by a fellow werewolf named Tully who had taught George some ‘tricks of the trade’ for being a werewolf such as how to prepare a werewolf kit to keep on hand for cleaning up in the morning after a transformation. Tully and George form a close friendship until Tully reveals that he is in fact the werewolf that had attacked and tried to kill George on the highlands. George is played by Russell Tovey.

Lawrence Talbot from The Wolf Man. After receiving news that his brother had gone missing, Lawrence returns home to face his father, a man he hadn’t seen since being sent to live in an asylum after witnessing the death of his mother. After being released from the asylum Lawrence had joined a successful Shakespeare troop in which he himself had become quite famous. His father greets him with news about his brother’s body being found and Lawrence decides to stay at Talbot Hall to help in the search for his brother’s killer. While there Lawrence meets and becomes enamored of his brother’s fiancee Gwen. While confronting the gypsies that are camped outside of town in hopes that they may know something about his brother’s death the gypsy camp is attacked by the townsfolk and in the chaos Lawrence is attacked by the same creature that killed his brother. Even though Lawrence survives his troubles are not over since he himself is now a werewolf. After confronting his father Lawrence learns that John is the monster who killed his brother. He also realizes that his father was also responsible for the death his mother and that his father had put him in the asylum in order to convince young Lawrence that what he had actually witnessed was his mother’s suicide. Lawrence is captured by authorities after his first transformation and returned to the asylum after being declared a lunatic. There he is tortured until the next full moon in which he turns into the wolf man and escapes. He later returns to Talbot Hall to confront his father in a furry battle to the death. Lawrence Talbot is played by Benicio del Toro in a role originally played by Lon Chaney Jr.

Jimmy Myers from Cursed. When Jimmy and his sister Ellie accidentally hit an animal on the highway causing them to crash into another car, the two are attacked by the creature while trying to save the other driver. After the accident Jimmy is sure that the creature they hit was a giant wolf but no one, not even his sister, believes him. Everyone else suspects that it might have been a mountain lion but Jimmy knows what he saw and it wasn’t no mountain lion. Jimmy notices strange things happening to him that he can’t explain, such as weird cravings for raw meat. When he wakes up one morning naked in the bushes he does what any 21st century teen does in such a situation… he hits the internet. Jimmy comes to the conclusion that he and Ellie had been attacked by a werewolf and because they survived they too would become werewolves as well. Ellie doesn’t buy it but it’s not long before she realizes that Jimmy may just be onto something after all. Turning into a werewolf isn’t all bad though. Jimmy realizes that he has grown stronger and more athletic, so much so that he even plucks up the courage to take on and beat Bo, the schools number one bully along with the rest of the wrestling team. Jimmy also finds that his new werewolf pheromones have made him highly desirable, so much so that Bo comes out of the closet to reveal his love for him. Jimmy proves that nice guys don’t always finish last when he not only gets the girl but a new gay BFF as well. Jimmy is played by Jesse Eisenberg.

Now before I get a slew of “But where’s Jaccccoooooobbbbbb Blaaaaacccckkkkk?!?” I have decided not to include everyone’s boyfriend because we all already know that he is the hunkiest thing on four legs right now. Have no fear though, if you’re looking to get your Jacob fix he, and his Quileute pack can be found right over here.

The crunch-crunch-high-pitched-scream werewolf boy is back! So rarely in the world of werewolves is the truly horrible, painful and terrifying transformation really captured, –and we certainly never expected to find it in a BBC supernatural soap opera. They’ve even done us a huge favor and offered up a great sneak peak of what we can expect out of the second season, –and we can’t wait to show you!

Click here to view the embedded video.

Apparently, things are on the outs with George Sands, and his girlfriend, and former fiance, maybe current fiance, Nina Pickering. During the video, Nina looks a little bit like she’s either, pissed off with George, or just cranky. Maybe it has something to do with sharing a flat with a vampire, a ghost, and a werewolf? Meanwhile, Annie Sawyer, the resident ghost, is getting her very first job! …Since she died. A ghost working at a bar? A rather sensitive, hormonal ghost at that. Either way, sounds like it’ll be pretty entertaining.

Aside from the weird women, George and John Mitchell, the brooding vampire, seem to be getting along fairly well. On the other hand, John does seem a tad more snarky than usual. Maybe he’s just bored… or hungry. Either way, we’ll find out this summer, when Season 2 of BBC’s Being Human premiers!

Russle Tovey plays the self-loathing werewolf George on the hit BBC show Being Human. The show features more than our new favorite werewolf, but also a ghost and a vampire. All three of these supernatural beings live (or unlive) together, trying desperately to to fit in with the world, but being human is easier said than done.

While searching online for goodies about werewolf George I came across an interview where he discusses the show and what’s coming in season two of Being Human.

Tell us about what’s in store for George, Annie and Mitchell…
The scale is a lot bigger. The threat last series was a supernatural threat, this time it’s a human threat which I think is more exciting. A lot of people buy in to the show because of the domestic kitchen sink quality - even though they’re supernatural, these people could be your neighbours. With the human threat it becomes more accessible and darker.

At the end of series one we saw George embrace his wolfy side, does he continue down that path?
He embraced it in the moment to save his friends, but he didn’t fully accept it. George’s biggest fear was killing someone and for him the wolf was always completely separate from him. Now he’s killed someone and I think that puts him in a state of shock and makes him behave very erratically. He’s not happy with himself, but he’s not scared either – and I think that’s scary in itself.

Was it interesting for you to take the character in a new direction?
It’s completely rooted in truth, but he had to go somewhere completely different and it’s great to explore that side of George. He definitely has that kind of animalistic side to him, but I think it makes him grow up. He’s still loveable, sensitive, screaming George.

We’re also going to see characters with other supernatural powers this series…
You’ll definitely come across more werewolves, ghosts and vampires. A psychic pops up too.

That’s just a small taste, for the full interview head over here.

Who is it that’s after the trio this time?
Well, I can’t tell you that obviously. That would ruin it, it’s a massive spoiler!

That’s why we want to know!
(Laughs) Well I’m not going to tell you.

Nina was scratched by wolf-George at the end of the last series, what will that mean for her?
She doesn’t know the repercussions and none of the other characters know that it happened, so Nina’s journey starts off in a state of absolute fear. But nothing is ever concrete you know, she was scratched when George wasn’t fully changed so there’s lots of questions that get answered in the first episode.

What about Mitchell and Annie? What lies ahead for them?
Annie’s happy, she’s confident, she can be seen. There’s no threat for them anymore – it seems, none of them know there’s another threat. Mitchell is in a kind of limbo because there’s no one trying to kill him anymore, he’s got his blood lust under control, he’s milling around and doesn’t know what to do. The three of them start in a place that’s quite content and happy, and that changes.

We’re also going to see characters with other supernatural powers this series…
You’ll definitely come across more werewolves, ghosts and vampires. A psychic pops up too.

If you haven’t heard of the Being Human series, you probably don’t live in the UK. I don’t either but when I heard that there was a new werewolf/vampire/ghost television show coming on, I had to know what it was all about. Turns out, this British television show sounds pretty darn good.

The plot of the show is about three people (or should I call them ‘beings’?) who live together. One is a vampire, one is a werewolf, and one is a ghost. They seem to do okay living together, although they all have their own supernatural roommate issues. But their biggest threat is Professor Jaggat and a man named Kemp, who have gotten an inkling that something is amiss around town. Namely, that there are vampires, werewolves, and ghosts running around. And of course, like any unreasonable humans, they immediately want to destroy them or, in the case of the ghost, return them to where they belong.

The show airs on Britain’s BBC Three channel. But for those of us who don’t have access to it, there’s always the good ol’ Internet to search for just these kind of goodies. And we’ve found the perfect site here for you if you need to catch up on the first series of Being Human before you start watching the second series. And of course, you’ll probably also be able to catch the second series there as well once it goes to DVD (or sooner as the case usually is.)

But if you’ve already watched the first series and are just dying to catch the second series, you can be happy knowing that it will start airing this weekend on Sunday, January 10. And if you haven’t seen the first series, you might want to catch it before that. The first episode of the newest series goes into great detail about how George, the werewolf of the group, is wrestling with a murder that he committed in the first series.

The whole entire concept of this television show sounds very, very good! I wish I could watch it while it’s actually airing. Add to that the fact that the werewolf in this show looks like an actual werewolf , and what more could you want?

George Sands is the werewolf in Being Human, and although he’s great, he’s also kind of a nerd; with an IQ of 156, George is intelligent, though socially inept, and refers to being a werewolf as “that thing that happens to me once a month.” So, in a way, George sort of deals with being a werewolf like it’s his menstrual cycle. Poor guy. How about a little enthusiasm?! He’s a lapsed Jew, and wears a Star of David, anyway, — the religious pendant manages to ward off vampires in small numbers, though John Mitchell is an exception due to his personal connection with George. During a holiday in Scotland, George was attacked by a werewolf at night, while exploring the countryside with an American tourist. The American of course, is portrayed as a babbling annoyance, and he ends up being the one to get mauled and killed while George is only scratched. Wow, so Americans apparently don’t fare well in the British horror market; am I the only one drawing a connection to the pop-culture rule that blacks are often the first to go in American horror cinema?

Being Human was a huge success in England, and after its debut season in 2008, it was quickly contracted for another season, or series, in 2009. The characters, aside from George, include the vampire John Mitchell, and an insecure ghost, Annie Sawyer. Mitchell is able to walk in daylight, but his eyes are extremely sensitive to the sun. Sawyer haunts the home where she and her fiancé lived when she was alive. She died by a fall down the stairs, though it’s later revealed, –sorry for the spoiler, –that her fiancé, Owen, pushed her because he believed she was having an affair. Gosh, what a douchebag.

With the success of Being Human continuously building, Americans refuse to be outdone, and the popular Sci-Fi channel, now SyFy, has decided to begin producing and filming a remake. Well, sure, why not? It’s not like the British show just came out or anything! Meredith Warner from io9.com is far from impressed, and quotes SyFy’s David Howe saying how impressed everyone was with Being Human, –then comments, “They loved the originality of it so much, they decided to remake it.” While most fans are decidedly negative on the subject, I can’t help but look at the bigger picture: there’ll be another awesome horror-comedy drama on the air as early as next year! It’s true British humor is impossible to duplicate, but it’s also true that the Sci-Fi/SyFy channel has had some pretty successful shows. I’m willing to brave the Being Human remake waters for the sake of entertainment, –are you?

Transform, sequence, phase, metamorphosize, morph, shift, change, transition… on and on, call it whatever you like it all comes down to one thing – man turning into beast. Today we’ll discuss the actual physical change.

Authors, TV shows, movies, they all have their own image of the change from human to wolf. In movies like An American Werewolf in London or Underworld the change is slow and very painful; in the famous Twilight novels it is quick and more magical than physical. Some have a more scientific view on it and others have a mystical view on it.

One of the most fascinating viewpoints on the change comes from the show Being Human. Being Human is a British supernatural comedy/drama television show. It is about three people living in a house together, trying to live normal lives. The thing is these three are a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire and playing human isn’t as easy as they thought. But back to the subject at hand, there is a scene featuring the werewolf George and along with it is one of the best werewolf commentaries ever…

He should be dead within 30 seconds.

The werewolf heart is about two thirds the size of a humans.

But in order to shrink, first it has to stop.

In other words, he has a heart attack.

All the internal organs are smaller, so while he’s having his heart attack, he’s having liver and kidney failure too.

And if he stops screaming, it’s not because the pain has dulled.

His throat, gullet and vocal chords are tearing and reforming.

He literally can’t make a sound.

By now the pituitary gland should be working overtime, flooding his body with endorphins to ease some of the pain, but that too has shut down.

Anyone else would have died of shock long ago, but it won’t let him.

And that’s the thing I find most remarkable.

It drags him through the fire and keeps him alive and conscious to endure every second.

Nothing like this could just evolve.

This is the fingerprint of God.

An impossible lethal curse, spread by tooth and claw.

Victim begets victim, begets victim.

It’s so cruel, it’s…perfect.

What a deep, vivid and dark description of the change. It’s really amazing and absolutely horrifying when put like that isn’t it? This is one out of many transformation views. As mentioned, every writer has their own version as to what the shift involves. What about you guys? What do you think the change from man to wolf is like?

Also, here is the clip mentioned above from Being Human…
