PENNY DREADFUL Comic Book Alternate Covers

Previously I reported the grand news that the PENNY DREADFUL story would be continuing after all, albeit in comic book form. I am now pleased to add to that announcement with more PD-related goodness. Titan Comics has revealed that there will be SIX covers for the upcoming series release, and you can feast your peepers on them here. If we can judge by the covers alone, the artwork for this series is going to be beautiful. (Two of the covers are photographs; Billie Piper as Lily Frankenstein and Eva Green as Vanessa Ives. They’re both beautiful ladies, though, so my comment still sorta applies.) I couldn’t say which one is my favorite. The one that looks Mike Mignola-esque, maybe? (Which makes me wish the same company owned the rights to Mignola’s character HELLBOY. Can you imagine if Hellboy made an appearance in the P.D. universe? Wouldn’t your head simply EXPLODE? Alas, HELLBOY is published by Dark Horse. Comics publishers have teamed-up before, however, so it could still happen. I wonder if Mignola is a fan of the show?)

A plethora of gorgeous covers aside, the main question going round in my mind is whether or not Vanessa will be making a return in this series? Considering she’s featured on three of the six covers, I’m betting on it. Will she be a ghost? A vampire? An evil twin? Or will writer and former P.D. TV series producer Chris King concoct some other way to bring her back?

PENNY DREADFUL number one hits comic book stores the first week in April.
