Being Human’s Werewolf Quits!

I hate to say it guys, but the future of BBC’s Being Human isn’t looking so hot. One of its main stars, Russell Tovey, is quitting the show. Russell recently confirmed that he will no longer play the role of werewolf George Sands. Sad sad news.

Russell Tovey has already filmed season four of Being Human, which is due to premiere early next year, so fans have one more season with him. But he won’t return for more. Considering that one of the other original stars of the show, Aidan Turner, left at the end of season three, it does make you wonder if fans will even get a season five. Can the show survive without both Aidan and Russell? I doubt it.

Tovey announced the news to his fans via his Twitter page, saying:

“Hey my lovely witty’s, you may or may not know by now, but I am leaving Being Human officially. Thought you should all know. I’m sorry.”

In an interview he said that he believes that the show can go on without him and Aidan.

“No, with Being Human the story can definitely go on and on. Toby [Whithouse – the series’ writer] still runs it and they can do all sorts, add giants and robots!”

Yeah, ok… giants and robots… that’s totally what the fans want. Not! I seriously doubt the show will go on without him and Aidan. After all, the show is about three roommates – a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf – living together and helping one another play the role of human. How are they supposed to keep that story going when there’s only a ghost left?

At least we still have SyFy’s Being Human, none of their actors have left and it’s said that they will no longer follow the storyline of the original Being Human, so that’s exciting.

What do you think of Russell Tovey leaving Being Human?

  1. It’s unfortunate. But if he wants to move on to do other things, I respect that.

They could try carrying it on with just the ghost left. But it could just end up being like the show Beauty and the Beast where, when the actress playing Catherine left, it quickly fell apart and came to an end.

Most of these type of shows, I feel lucky if after one season it carries on to even a second one.

In the long run, 4 seasons of BBC’s Being Human is pretty good. There will always be at least that.

  2. I really enjoyed the British version and had to warm up to the American version. I do respect Russell’s decision. I hate to see him leave. I am sad to see the show leave. I would think they could bring in lest say a cousin who is also a werewolf.
