Altered Beast – Re-altered!
Old video game properties never die. They just get refurbished and re-released in new, high-tech versions. I remember playing SONIC THE HEDGEHOG on the original Sega Genesis system. Nowadays we have SKYLANDERS. The success of the latter may have helped get another old Sega chestnut an upgrade. Remember ALTERED BEAST? It had werewolves and all other sorts of were-creatures fighting. In terms of story there isn’t much more to it, but ALTERED BEAST was birthed from the era before elaborate, labyrinthine storylines were the standard, or even considered necessary. You’re a guy who fights monsters and, as you accumulate abilities to shapeshift into monsters yourself. That’s all you need to know.
What makes this exciting news (it’s exciting if you’re an ALTERED BEAST fan, or just an old-school video game fan in general) even more thrilling is that the revamp will be handled by Circle of Confusion, the company behind the FEAR THE WALKING DEAD game, so we can be sure they won’t be cutting corners where the graphics are concerned. The game won’t be available for Christmas, unfortunately, as everything is still in preproduction. If they get their posteriors in gear, though, we might see them on the market by Christmas NEXT year.
