I didn’t even know it was there. And I chanced upon it by accident. I seem to recall, after the fact, reading something about it, someplace—well, on the Internet—and some time in the past. But I had forgotten all about it. Even when I stopped off last week in Saint Augustine, Florida, the oldest city (of European origin) in the United States (you’ll be reading a lot more this week about my visit to St. Augustine over at out sister site, VAMPIRES.COM), no bells rang; my subconscious failed to alert me to the existence of this absolute must-see location for a guy like me. (Damn subconscious! What good are you, anyway?!) The venue to which I am referring is called WOLF’S MUSEUM OF MYSTERY, and I’m not sure I can put all the blame on my subconscious for not being aware of the place’s presence, as the owners, by their own admission, do no advertising whatsoever. They seem to prefer to leave it to kismet, those folks who stumble upon their bizarre and beautiful little attraction. Who knows, maybe it was kismet that brought ME there.
The MUSEUM OF MYSTERY is equal parts thrift store, museum, and Halloween spook house. Everything onsite is also on sale, though I doubt they part with too much of their merchandise/artifacts. It’s sorta like a darker, grittier Ripley’s Believe It Or Not attraction. (We’ll be discussing one of those this week, too, over at VAMPIRES.COM.) And, for a guy like me, it’s a paradise. Read on, intrepid adventurers!
