Oh man, I didn’t even realize so many different versions and the meaning behind it. It is fascinating to know after knowing it. Tells you the meaning of life.

I’ve been thinking about this story for awhile now, and didn’t realize some of the insights.
I still think this must be a werewolf tale though. It feels like the wolf “should” have been able to get Little Red when they first met, without needing to involve the grandmother at all.
Looking at some of the other (earlier) versions of the story, it gets darker the further back I looked. Nothing like the popular tale I heard as a child.

Omg i did not know that there were soooo many lil’ Red stories. This puts it in a whole new light 4 me! and it is soooo cool that each has it’s own morals at the end. Well most of them do anyway.

Great article. I am doing an annotated Bibligraphy on Fairy Tales and Little Red Riding Hood is what I am studying. In todays society, wolves are very real.
The word wolf is just a metaphor for the bad poeople out there. Your smiling neighbor, friend, uncle, brother can be just as animalistic as a wolf.
Check out todays paper about the guy who is stalking a fellow co-worker using the twiling movie.

yeah my english teacher told us about this version, kinda werid how it used to be for our parents, but then somebody decided to make it into kids stories.
